This is the classic Italian paste tomato prized by chefs. San Marzano produces loads of 4 oz., long, blocky, bright red tomatoes with a rich, complex, sweet flavor that make excellent whole canned or sundried tomatoes. The firm, meaty flesh, small seed cavity, and easily-removed skin provides for first class sauces and pastes. The fruit holds well both on the vine and in storage.
